Solutions for Sustainability - Reduce Eco Impact
I love the sunshine, I love the ocean, I love all the beauty that surrounds us in nature. It grounds us, it energises us, it connects us all, and unfortunately it is being damaged everywhere we look. Plastic pollution, burning fires, over consumption are just some of the devastating problems. Sometimes it feels like making a positive impact is out of our control, but together we can, by choosing to live a more sustainable life. Being conscious of our consumer choices, reuse, recycle, reduce is a good place to start. It doesn't need to be a massive, daunting effort, small steps accumulate and put us on a better path. We don't need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly. We need millions of people doing it imperfectly.
Choosing swimwear made from sustainable fabric, Econyl, provides a great solution to waste management as it is made from recycled ocean plastics, such as water bottles, and fishing nets. Not only that, for every 10,000 tonnes of Econyl raw material it saves 70,000 barrels of crude oil, and avoids 57, 100 tonnes of CO2 eq. emissions. No waste, no new resources. Just bikinis for a cleaner ocean.
Recycled and reversible bikinis, so you don't have to refuse or reduce your options. Our sustainable bikini range was purpose built to allow creativity with your options. The colour palette was chosen to allow for mixing and matching between styles, and all bikini pieces are reversible, making them the perfect choice for sustainable swimwear, traveling, and any other salty lifestyle.
It was also important to me to find sustainable solutions for packaging. Recycled card and natural fibre twine is used for swing tags. Products are posted in dirt bags, yep, real dirt bags from www.betterpackaging.com (and if that just pressed play on "teenage dirt bag" playing in your head I'm not sorry haha ). These bags are actually plant based, made from corn, and are totally compostable! Just add then to food scraps and garden waste. Better for the environment, better for the oceans, for a better tomorrow.
An easy way to make more conscious ,sustainable consumer choices is to work through each room looking at plastic free options to make the switch to.
As an example, easy solutions for the bathroom are to refill shampoo, conditioner and body wash bottles or switch to bars. Use reusable makeup remover wipes, I love mine from zaggonline.com.au (pass the acro training moves, if it's not your thing, and head straight to the store section). Brush those fangs with sustainable bamboo toothbrushes, check out www.rippleproject.co who also donate 10% of profits to ocean clean ups and education.
Our choices have power, use them for the powers of good, for a cleaner ocean, healthier environment and better future.
