Bali is finally fully open again! Get your bikinis ready... sunshine, surf and amazing food awaits!
Canggu has grown in popularity over the last few years, and is where we spend most of our Bali time. With its demographic of digital nomads, surfers, and holidays makers, it has become a vegan food heaven. While most offer an inclusive menu, these are our top 10 picks for vegan food in Canggu.
ALMOND
Brought to you by the same people as "The Path" yoga studio, Almond opened about a year ago in a quiet side street of Pererenan. With berry pancakes to die for, delicious nourish bowls, avo toast and burgers there is something for everyone on this menu.
The Shady Shack
Brought to us by the same people as the OG Canggu institution Betelnut, they decided to open a sustainable café called The Shady Shack in 2016 focusing on healthy vegan and vegetarian wholefoods. Shady Shack offers a big menu which includes an all-day breakfast, coffee, teas, healthy smoothies, juices ,burgers and salads, share plates, delicious mains and decadent vegan desserts. My fav is the (massive) lassagne, followed by a Peace Pop snickers ice cream.
Milk & Madu
Now with 3 venues, Milk & Madu can be found in Ubud, Berewa, and Batu Bolong. While there is not a lot of vegan options on the menu it needed to be included because the pizzas are awesome! They do 2 for 1 pizzas every Tuesday & Sunday 4-10pm and they are also available gluten free. It's also a great spot to enjoy some live music.
Secret Spot
Sharing their love for the planet and the ocean, Secret Spot can be found in Canggu & Berewa and caters to vegetarians and vegans, and provides plastic free delivery. Seating options include inside for air con comfort, or outside in the garden. We were won over by their vegan croissants and Monday pasta nights featuring live jazz. Also keep an I out for their movie nights.
Rize
In a beautiful leafy setting just off the main road of Pererenan, Rize offers of combination of progressive Indian and western cuisine. We made a weekly Dosa day a tradition during our months in Bali with the Masala Dosa coming in as my fav.
Lola's Cantina Mexicana
Tacos. Tequila. Good times. Another of Canggu OG's, Lola's popularity is still thriving and can now also be found in Uluwatu. It's best to make a reservation if your feeling like a little Mexican fiesta.
I Am Vegan Babe
As the name suggests you have the whole menu to choose from here, and they have you covered from sweet to savoury, and healthy to indulgent while overlooking central Canggu.
Give
A sister cafe to Kynd Community, Give is 100% plant based and 100% not for profit. Their mission is to change the way people eat, think and give. Since opening in August 2018 they have raised $51,000 AUD for people, animals and places in need. Give features a simple traditional Indonesian cuisine with a plant-based twist, as well as things like burgers, smoothie bowls and delicious desserts.
Motion Fitness Foods
Motion provide healthy food for active travelers. Plus, you can customize your order to fit your dietary needs, whether you're vegan, gluten free, or want to follow your keto diet, they’ve got you covered. As well as their extensive menu, they strive to create delicious snack recipes that satisfy your cravings and boost your energy levels without all the unnecessary calories. Their tropical vegan cheesecakes is one of the most ordered desserts and definitely worth a try! Motion also offer meal plans and catering.
Alive Wholefoods
While not actually a cafe, Alive Wholefoods makes the list as a perfect option for food on the good, or eating at home, all with eco-friendly plastic free packaging. They make a lot of their own goodies, like chia pudding, vegan chocolate mousse, dips and cookies. They are a great little supermarket for organic produce, groceries and health and wellness.
Enjoy, bikini babes!
